OFFICIAL March 12, 2024 Presidential Primary Results

Upcoming Election Events: 

  • Logic & Accuracy testing of tabulation equipment will be conducted on Thursday, February 29, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. in the Garfield County Auditor's Office. 
  • Random Check of all ballot counting equipment will be conducted on Wednesday, March 13, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. in the Garfield County Commissioner's Chambers. 
  • The County Canvassing Board will convene on Friday, March 22, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. to determine the status of provisional or challenged ballots and canvass votes cast and certify the election in the Garfield County Commissioner's Chambers. 

The Elections Department administers all federal, state, and local elections in Garfield County, registers voters, maintains voter registration records, and provides voters information. Currently, there are approximately 1,800 registered voters in Garfield County.

New legislation:

New in 2022! A registered future voter who is 17 years of age on the day of the August Primary election and will reach the age of 18 before the following November General election is now eligible to vote in the primary election. These voters are called "Primary-only Voters" and are only allowed to vote on certain contests in the primary election. Primary-only voters can vote on the following contests:

  • Nonpartisan candidate races that contain three or more candidates
  • Partisan candidate races, regardless of the number of candidates, appearing on a primary election ballot
  • Presidential primary, only held once every 4 years

Primary-only voters are not permitted to vote on measures or other races in the primary election that will not go to the general election.
