Septic (New/Repairs/Replacements)

For a NEW Septic System:

Step 1: An applicant would need to print and fill out the Site/Soil Evaluation Form and pay $224 fee at the Garfield County Health District. The GCHD will send the application to our Environmental Health Administrator in Asotin County. They will get in contact with the individual to set up a time to inspect the soil and location. Once the application is approved....

Step 2: The applicant would then need to print and fill out the On-Site Application and pay $334 fee at the Garfield County Health District. The GCHD will send the application to our Environmental Health Administrator in Asotin County and upon approval we will issue a Construction Permit. This permit allows for the building permit to be released and construction to begin. After the system is put in, before it is buried..... (take pictures of your site and system for the final inspection)

Step 3: After the system has been put in, a final inspection will need to be done. Contact  the GCHD or Asotin County for the final inspection. Once the inspection has been approved, applicant or designer will need to submit an As-Built. Once the As-Built has been recieved, an Operational Permit will be given and they system is good to go!

For A Repair/Replacement:

Step 1: Step one of repairing or replacing a current septic system is similar to a new system. The applicant will need to submit a copy of the current system, along with the repairs that are going to be done. Print and fill out an On-Site Application and submit it to the GCHD with a fee of $167. The application will be sent to the Environmental Health Specialist in Asotin County for approval. Once approved a Construction Permit will be given and repairs can be made. (take pictures of the final system for inspection before you bury the project)

Step 2: After all repairs are made, an As-Built needs to be submitted and the EH specialist will need to inspect the project. After inspection and approval an Operational Permit will be given and the applicant can use the system.
